Rockwell Group designs artwork deco Japanese eatery in Hudson Yards


In February, Katsuya, a Los Angeles sushi establishment beloved by the Hollywood set, made its New York debut at Manhattan West, a 7-million-square-foot portion of the Hudson Yards growth. The restaurant is considered one of two full-service fine-dining institutions inside Residents, an upscale meals corridor designed by Rockwell Group that occupies the whole second flooring of a brand new 17-story workplace constructing.

The brand new outpost marked a primary for Katsuya, which was based by grasp sushi chef Katsuya Uechi in 2006. As a result of it was new to the meals corridor typology, the restaurant determined it wanted a daring look to match. “Usually instances, American-Japanese eating places are very minimalist with pared-down decor,” stated Greg Keffer, Rockwell’s partner-in-charge of the mission. “We determined to go the maximalism route as an alternative.”
