Design studio MAWD has redone the interiors of an IM Pei tower in Denver, Colorado, together with the foyer and an adjoining Philip Johnson-designed atrium.
The London and US-based interiors studio redesigned points of the interiors on the 23-storey business tower 1700 Broadway in downtown Denver for Beacon Capital.
MAWD up to date the 27,000-square-foot (250-square-metre) foyer and atrium – the latter hooked up in 1983 by architect Philip Johnson, virtually 30 years after the tower’s completion.

Rebranded because the Atrium Campus, the in depth redesign of 1700 Broadway – which was the primary skyscraper within the metropolis – contains an replace to the safety desk, a lounge, and updates to the streetscape.
Influenced by the mid-century structure of the unique design, MAWD included an enormous communal fire with travertine accents. The coherence with the unique was achieved via utilizing repurposed stone from different elements of the constructing.

“We drilled into the mid-century particulars that had been prevalent, genuine and ‘of-the-moment’,” mentioned Elliot March, design lead on the venture.
The designers surrounded the fireside space with lengthy and quick tables for gathering, in addition to cubicles alongside the partitions. Picket louvres had been positioned over the welcome desk to spotlight the inexperienced wall behind it.

The foyer is framed by the black colonnades that outline the construction from the road, which confide in the atrium.
Johnson’s sloping atrium, which wraps across the foyer, was redesigned as an extension of the “streetscape” indoors. From the doorway is a walkway between the partitions of the atrium and the open foyer, the place benches, greenery and fixtures that imitate road lamps had been positioned.

These parts lead as much as an addition that the designers confer with as “Spanish steps”.
This construction is pyramidal and works with the adjustments in elevation of the positioning to create extra sitting and social areas within the atrium.
The steps climb in the direction of a mezzanine that connects the atrium to a lined walkway over Broadway, in addition to to the second flooring of the constructing.
On the second flooring, MAWD revamped 9,300 sq. ft (863.9 sq. metres) for facilities together with a health club, yoga studio, and convention rooms.

The aim of the design, based on MAWD was “to draw main firms in the course of the space’s tech growth, offering versatile and responsive areas for the way forward for work”.
